Habitat related variations in omega series of unsaturated fatty acids in Indian major Carp Cirrhinus mrigala

چکیده
Atomic absorption spectrophotometery showed significant levels of contamination by Cd, Hg, Cu, Mn, Zn, Pb, Cr and Sn in fish habitats. Fatty acids from meat were detected by gas chromatography. C12:0, C20:0, C16:1(n-7), C16:1(n-9), C18:1(n-9), C20:1(n-9), C18:2(n-6), C18:4(n-3), C22:4(n-6), C20:5(n-3) and C22:4(n-6) fatty acids were found missing in fish obtained from area of higher pollution when compared to farmed fish.C16:1(n-7), C20:1(n-9), C20:2(n-6), C22:4(n-6) and C22:5(n-3) were found missing in the fish collected upstream to the areas of high intensity pollution. Loss of these important fatty acids indicates the sensitivity of the fish even in response to the lower intensity of pollution. Farmed fish showed optimal concentration of each fatty acid. Significant differences (p<0.05) were observed in fatty acid profiles of different species when each was compared in relation to their own habitats. Habitat of even lower intensity pollution confiscates fatty acids of omega series and lower down the unsaturated fats for which fish is preferred on other animals.

Dietary Threonine Requirement of Indian Major Carp, Cirrhinus Mrigala (hamilton), Juveniles
A growth study was conducted to determine the dietary threonine requirement of juveniles of the Indian major carp (Cirrhinus mrigala) known as “mrigal”. Diets containing casein and gelatin as sources of intact proteins were supplemented with crystalline amino acids to obtain a crude protein content of 40%. Six diets with different levels of threonine (1.0, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9 and 2.1%) were fed ...

Three species of Indian major carp (Labeo rohita,Catla catla,Cirrhinus mrigala) were collected from local fish market and fishing sites of river Brahmaputra for determining the nutritional value, seasonal variation of proximate composition and vitamin A content of these fishes. Results obtained show that there is no much significant seasonal variations in body composition of Indian major carp tho...
متن کاملEffect of phenol on haematological components of Indian major carps Catla catla, Labeo rohita and Cirrhinus mrigala.
The effect of phenol on haematological components of Indian major carps, Catla catla, Labeo rohita and Cirrhinus mrigala were observed. After exposure to sublethal concentrations of 5.17 mg l(-1), 6.06 mg l(-1) and 6.99 mg l(-1), the number of red blood cells, haemoglobin content and packed cell volume all decreased but the glucose level increased. The order of decrease in the haematological co...

The chemical composition variations of the Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) from Karachi coast were investigated seasonally over the period of one year (2004-2005). Moisture, crude protein, fat and ash contents varied from 70.11-74.41%, 16.02- 20.09%, 3.0-12%, and 0.89-1.35% respectively. The seasonal data indicated that the main fatty acids of the total lipid were C16:0, C16:1, C18:0,...
